+ve praise

Wise leaders are always investing in the equity of the emotional bank account of the people they lead. They see it as one of their top priorities. Normally they use 5:1 ratio - make far more deposits than withdrawals!

In emotional banking system, deposits refer to all kind of positive praise. Withdrawal is a mistake they made because they are human...

Consider the followings - three keys to +ve praise:

Make it TRUE - The way to start making deposits into you employees' emotional bank account is not by THROWING AROUND HAPPY WORDS indiscriminately. Praise is praise only if it true, otherwise it is flattery ...a fancy word for lying!

Make it SPECIFIC - "Hey, you did a good job!" ...is usually an empty accolade. It says nothing and meaning nothing! Not specific. Only SPECIFIC PRAISE HAS POWER.

Make it PERSONALIZEED - If you were in Malaysia, you would use Ringgit. If you were in England, it would be in Pound or Euro and in USA the dollar. Different places, different currency. And it is only that currency accepted in those places. So different PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT CURRENCY as well... so the praise. It needs to be personalized!
