In coaching it's important to scan the situation - its reality! REALITY is about understanding the present situation.
Both coach and coachee have to explore and provide assessment of the situation at hand. Evaluate what the coachee has done. The coach must be specific in getting the coachee to illustrate the issue. And the coach also has to challenge the validity of the information and perception of the coachee.
Keep on challenging the coachee to provide facts instead of expressing opinions. Widening his perspectives by asking a lot of self-awreness questions.
And DON'T FORGET to explore the underlying motivation of the coachee before exploring the possibilities and alternatives towards resolving the issue!
